How it works
When clients click your unique link, it opens a contact form instead of displaying your email address publicly. When they submit the form, their message is automatically sent to your inbox.
If it’s spam, ignore. If it’s serious, you’ll be able to reply from your email app.
Can I share my VO profile with clients?
Absolutely, your VO profile gives you an actor profile page like this: https://getcleveraboutvo.com/actors/stephanie-gish/
You can find yours on the top of your dashboard and share it. Your smaller profile is also clickable from any of the directories you are listed on and leads to your page.
Where is my VO profile page?
Your actor profile page link is at the top of your dashboard. Log in at https://getcleveraboutvo.com/my-account/ and you’ll see it right at the top. It looks something like https://getcleveraboutvo.com/actors/your-name/
Can I change my name on my VO profile?
Yes, head to your Dashboard here: https://getcleveraboutvo.com/my-account/
On the menu on the left, look for Edit Account.
Then change the Display name.
You may be prompted to update your password in order to save the change.
Can I change the name on the url of my VO profile PAGE?
In theory, yes. Your profile page is created when you sign up, and uses the name you entered at checkout. It looks like this: https://getcleveraboutvo.com/actors/stephanie-gish/
If you use a stage name, I may be able to change the existing url IF the new name hasn’t already been taken by someone else.

Can I choose which demos appear on my page?
Yes! Log in at https://getcleveraboutvo.com/my-account/ and find the demo you want to hide.
Under that demo you’ll see a checkbox that says “Hide this demo on my actor profile page” — check it to hide it.
Note: this only affects your actor profile page — the standalone page with your unique URL. It does not affect the smaller profile tile that appears on the directory and listing pages.
If I hide a demo will it disappear from the directories too?
No — hiding a demo only removes it from your actor profile page (the one with your unique URL). Your profile tile on the directory and listing pages is not affected.
I can't edit my actor page!
The VO/actor profile page cannot be edited directly. It automatically displays the information filled out in your dashboard/customer portal.
To update your photo, demo, bio, links, and details log into your account at https://getcleveraboutvo.com/my-account/
Changes will be reflected on the profile page automatically.
My demo doesn't appear correctly on my VO Directories
In most cases, this is because:
-You’ve not uploaded the correct format (mp3)
-Your demo is over 5MB.
In this case, re-upload a new demo with the correct format and size, and your demo should appear and play correctly.

I can't upload my demos!
If you’re not able to upload demos at all, and a player with your audio file does not appear in your demo section, or on your profile, we may be experiencing a system-wide issue.

My profile picture doesn't appear on my VO Directories
In most cases, this is either because:
-You’ve not uploaded the right format (jpg)
-The photo is in the correct format but is over 1MB
-You’ve not hit the UPLOAD button next to the picture. Instead you only hit SAVE at the bottom of your profile.
A temporary profile picture is displayed on your profile until you upload a profile picture in the correct format.

I can't upload my profile picture!

I don't have a website! Can I still be listed on your VO Directories?
Yes, Absolutely. You can be listed on any Voice Actor Directory you’d like, even if you don’t have your own website yet.
When it comes to online visibility, a good rule of thumb is simple: be present in as many relevant places as possible.
In your VO profile, you can either:
-Add a link to another online VO profile where clients can contact you, or...
-Convert your email address into a link that leads to a spam-proof form that will automatically forwarded to your email (you'll see the email converter just under the website field in your VO profile).
As these directories become populated with many voice actors, they’ll gain in authority, so even though they’re not directly promoted to VO clients (more about this further in the FAQ), they’re designed to get traction online, so there’s a good chance they will eventually expose you to prospective buyers.
Can I share my VO Profile with clients?

This is especially useful if you're just starting out and you don't have a website. And feel free to link to it in your email signature!
Where are the Voice Actor Directory pages hosted?
The directories (web pages) are hosted right here on GetCleverAboutVO.com.
This site already contains a large library of voice actor–centric articles and resources, which makes it highly relevant for SEO and GEO.
That's important because VO directory pages on their own don’t carry much weight in search engines. However, when those pages live inside a site filled with voice acting content, they become far more credible (in search terms).
In short, this surrounding content strengthens the backlinks for the voice actors who are listed on the pages.

How is being listed alongside OTHER voice actors good for ME?
When many voice actors are featured together, the VO Directories themselves become more relevant to search engines.
As a result, your backlinks help search engines see you as more relevant too.
The result?
When VO clients search for terms that already exist on your own website, search engines are more likely to trust you, and show you higher in results.
That’s a core principle of voice acting SEO.
How quickly will I see results?
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is not a quick, one-and-done, strategy.
In most cases, it takes several months to see movement in rankings. That’s normal, especially as it concerns SEO for voice actors, because it's a highly competitive field.
Also, keep in mind that backlinking is just one part of a complete SEO and GEO strategy.
That said, backlinking is massively important. Without strong backlinks, your website will only ever rank so far.
Are the results guaranteed?
No. And anyone who promises guaranteed SEO or GEO results isn’t being honest.
A strong strategy includes many elements, such as:

Are you promoting these Voice Actor Directories to producers and directors?
These pages are continually monitored and optimized for GEO and SEO, and over time, producers, creative directors, casting agents, and voice acting clients may find them organically through search engines.
However, I am not actively promoting these pages directly to specific buyers.
Their primary purpose is to provide an affordable visibility strategy for voice actors.
Any casting opportunities that come from the pages themselves are a (super awesome) welcome bonus.
What if a client hires me from one of your VO Directories?
That’s great! And again, a sweet bonus.
I do not take commissions. You deal directly with the client.
Occasionally, a client may want to send an audition request to all voice actors on a specific page. In that case, I will help facilitate by emailing the request to you and returning your recordings to the client.
Once chosen, all further communication is between you and the client.
Are you a Talent Agent?
Absolutely NOT. I'm primarily an actress, a voice actress and a coach licensed in California.
Becoming a licensed agent would mean quitting coaching, and I love coaching.
These VO Directories exist because they’re an affordable way to create visibility for voice actors without gatekeepers or commissions.
How many VO Directories should I list myself on?
For best results, I recommend 3–9 directories, ideally spread across categories.
You may want more than one in the Expertise category if you truly work in multiple sectors.
That said, only list yourself where you genuinely belong. Quality matters, both for clients and for SEO.
Page diversity helps rankings for everyone!
Do I need a different VO demo on each page?
You can feature one unique demo on each directory.
Ideally, you're using demos that support the directories you choose to be featured on.
That said, you can use the same demo for certain categories, like gender, age, and location.
But demos in the expertise, accents, languages, and styles categories should truly reflect those directories.
For instance, if you choose the Animation directory but you only have a Commercial VO demo (or vice versa), you won't be helping prospective buyers make their choice. To make their decision, they look for the types of reads they need for their production.
Always remember that the key to being relevant online is exactly that: being relevant. The more relevant everyone's profile is, the better the chances the pages will be found by the right people, and the longer they'll stick around on the pages.
Do my demos need to be "professional"?
If you have professional demos, great!
But if you don't, and you have material you've recorded that can be used as a demo, you're free to use it, so long as it reflects the directory you're listing in.
Just make sure the sound quality and the quality of your performances are professional (no noises in the background).
For the record: I make many of my own demos from auditions I book, or even from auditions I love (that aren't confidential). I've learned to put music in the background, and my demos sell me incredibly well! Clients reference them all the time when they hire me.
To help you do the same, but without any tech, I've created a super affordable tool to make demos. Be sure you're on my mailing list so you'll be the first to know when I release it.
The bottom line? Professional demos are very expensive and they're just not necessary in every category, and they're certainly not necessary at the start of a career in VO. A collection of auditions from P2P sites or scripts you created with Chat GPT work just fine.
Does each VO Directory count as one backlink?
Yes.
So if you’re listed on 6 pages, you gain 6 solid backlinks, which is fantastic for your SEO!
What happens after I buy the yearly listing?
After buying, you'll receive an email with a link to your customer portal where you can upload your materials (photo, demos, bio, details, etc.).
After you fill these out, your VO profile will appear on the directory pages you selected. And voilà!
You can go back to your portal anytime to update your materials.
Just before the year ends, you'll get a reminder about your product expiring.
There are no automatic renewal or charges. To keep your listing active, you must renew on your own.
How do I cancel?
I don't like auto-renewals either, so there are NO automatic renewal or charges.
You'll receive an email before the year ends to remind you that your listing expires. To keep your VO profile on the directory page(s), you'll have to renew for one more year on your own.
Wait, is there any fine print?
Yes, and I believe in transparency.
I cannot promise work. Booking depends on many factors, including your overall marketing, your website, your demos, the market, and timing.

Where do I get music for the demo maker? Do I need to bring my own music?
The app links to many royalty-free music libraries. Pixabay Music is my personal favorite as their music is free for commercial use, and there is no credit to the artist required. This is helpful because it would be awkward to have to state the musician's name where you publish your demo. Other music libraries have different rules.
Whatever you do, be sure to download your license certificate. This is helpful if your music gets flagged for copyright on sites like YouTube.
You can also upload your own music track if you prefer. Just make sure you've obtained proper licensing.
What kind of music license do I get with the demo Maker's tracks?
Every license is different. Some are free for commercial & social use, no credit to the artist required. Some require artist credit, and some want you to buy a license in order to drop the credit.
Pixabay is my favorite as their tracks are free for commercial & social use, and no credit to the artist is required.
Which ever library you choose, be sure to download your license certificate. This is helpful if your music gets flagged for copyright on sites like YouTube.
I got flagged for copyright violation. What do I do?
This happens occasionally with automated systems and is easy to resolve. Make sure you have a license for your track and present a dispute. These matters usually resolve quickly with a license.

Yes! The app supports two formats:

Simply select your format in Step 2 before adding images. The image search automatically filters for the right orientation.
Can I add a waveform overlay to my video?
Yes. There's a waveform toggle in the Style Settings panel. When enabled, animated audio bars appear over your video, synced to your audio. This is great for social media where viewers need a visual cue that audio is playing. You can choose Red, White, or Black bars.
Can I add my own logo to the video?
Yes! In the Style Settings panel, you can upload your own logo (PNG with transparent background only). Choose the corner where it appears (top-left, top-right, bottom-left, or bottom-right) and the size (Small, Medium, or Large). Your logo is loaded locally from your computer and never stored on our server.
Can I upload the MP4 to all social media platforms?
Yes. MP4 is universally accepted by YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Vimeo, and Pinterest. The tool exports in the right format for each:
- Horizontal (1280×720) → YouTube, Vimeo, websites, LinkedIn
- Vertical (1080×1920) → TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts
Most voice actor reels are short (under 2 minutes) and well within file size limits on any platform.

Can I make a full time living as a voice actor?
You can, but most of us started VO part time. Being competitive takes time. So does finding repeat clients, which is essential for longevity.

I'm really into VO, where do I start??
To get you started on the right foot, and in the most affordable way, I recommend you read my eBook bundle. The books are short, concise, and the perfect off ramp. They give you a lay of the land, put everything in perspective, and tell you everything you need to get started. This is the best $40 you’ll ever spend on your voice acting career.
Then if you’re still excited to get started, I highly recommend you take my two super affordable self-paced online classes Power Moves 101 and 102. These give you the basics of what I teach, so that you can focus on getting the competitive skills you need right away. For $200, you’re going to learn what takes months to teach in private coaching (at almost $200/session, you do the math!).
Once you’ve gone through the courses, imperfectly as it may be, come to me for private coaching. You’ll have saved lots of money on the very basics, so we’ll be able to hit the ground running, and get straight to work on making you as competitive as you can be out there.
Once you’ve studied with me, and you’ve learned to be conversational, to develop strong script analysis skills, and you understand how to use directions to your advantage, we’ll talk about recording a professional commercial VO demo. Once that is scheduled, we would do a quick VO demo prep.
Beyond this, you might join one of my monthly Power Groups (small group coaching) to stay in shape in an affordable way, or come to me for a tune up as needed, or for important auditions.

Do my courses expire?
You have access to the courses for as long as they remain available on the platform — there is no personal expiry date on your access. Think of it as a long-term resource you can revisit whenever you need a refresher. In the unlikely event a course is retired or updated, you will be notified in advance.
